1975 Ford Mustang II

The 1975 Ford Mustang II is a compact, second-generation Mustang designed with an emphasis on fuel efficiency, mirroring the economic climate following the 1973 oil crisis. Available in two body styles—two-door notchback coupe and three-door “2+2” hatchback—this model introduced a new engine option: a 4.9L V8 providing 140 horsepower, alongside the existing 2.3L inline-four and 2.8L V6 options. Transmission choices included a 4-speed manual and a 3-speed automatic, catering to various driver preferences. Unique features of the Ghia model included opera windows and a padded vinyl half-top. A mid-year “MPG” model was launched, focusing on fuel economy. Performance-wise, the V8 could accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 10.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of around 106 mph. With production figures reaching 199,199 units, the 1975 Mustang II became the 9th best-selling Mustang model of all time.
