Were thrilled to announce that we now carry Kenworth genuine OEM parts. Those who've driven Kenworth trucks know their strong reputation for quality and reliability. Their in-house built Paccar engines are celebrated for their power, fuel efficiency, and durability. Kenworth recently celebrated its centennial. Here's a look at some of the company's legacy.
Kenworth's 100-Year History of Firsts
In 1923, Harry Kent and Edgar K. Worthington came together to help Pacific Northwest loggers as they struggled to haul heavy loads down rugged, muddy logging roads. After producing their first truck for loggers, they've been innovating to solve the biggest transportation challenges ever since.
Did you know Kenworth was the first American truck manufacturer to use diesel engines as standard for their trucks? The first example was built for Valley Motor Express in California with the truck featuring the first vertical exhausts in the industry and a 4-cylinder, 100 horsepower, HA-4 Cummins diesel engine. Kenworth was also the first to offer an integrated sleeper cab that allowed for enough room to lay down and sleep on longer routes.
By 1935, truck weight was an important topic in the industry as each state had its own weight configuration laws to protect bridges and highways. In response to these new regulations, Kenworth was the first to design aluminum hubs and cabs, with the rest of the industry adopting this approach later on.
Another important innovation was Kenworth's industry-first raised roof Aerodyne sleeper in 1976, which set a new standard for driver comfort with 7-foot interior height plus lowering drag from the trailer.
In 2020, Kenworth entered the electric era and introduced fully electric Class 6 and 7 trucks for local pickup and delivery applications. That same year they also launched their first Class 8 fully electric truck - the T680E.
2021 was an important year for Kenworth's hydrogen-powered Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) program. They launched a 10-truck demonstration program with various customers to explore FCEV viability in real-world drayage operations. Their T680 FCEV also climbed the 14,000-foot summit of Pikes Peak mountain in Colorado, making it the first Class 8 hydrogen-powered vehicle to complete the challenge.
Kenworth Quality
Kenworth trucks have a reputation for excellent build quality, in part by using quality materials. Driving a heavy duty truck means your vehicle inevitably encounters a lot of stress and strain - lower quality materials lead to more frequent downtime and repairs that keep your truck off the road. That's why we only carry genuine OEM parts for your Kenworth truck. Browse through our catalog of thousands of Kenworth parts and find what you need fast.
