DESCRIPTION
Coolant, also known as engine coolant or antifreeze, is a liquid substance that circulates through the engine of a truck to maintain its operating temperature. It is typically made of a mixture of ethylene glycol and water, with additives to prevent corrosion and lubricate the water pump. The coolant absorbs heat from the engine and transfers it to the radiator, where it is cooled by air passing over the fins. This process prevents overheating and protects against damage from freezing temperatures by lowering the freezing point of water in the cooling system. Coolant should be checked regularly for proper levels and replaced according to manufacturer specifications to ensure optimal performance and prevent engine damage.
