DESCRIPTION
The Air Shutoff Valve, also known as ASOV, is a component found in diesel engines that regulates the flow of air to the engine. It is designed to prevent catastrophic engine failure by cutting off the air supply in case of an overspeed condition. The valve is typically mounted on the intake manifold and controlled by an electronic solenoid or mechanical linkage. When activated, it closes off the intake port and stops airflow into the combustion chamber, effectively shutting down the engine. The ASOV plays a crucial role in ensuring driver safety and preventing damage to valuable equipment.
