DESCRIPTION
The Air Shutoff Solenoid is an electronic valve that controls the flow of air into the engine of a truck. The solenoid is typically located on the intake manifold and is activated by the engine control module. When the engine is turned off, the solenoid closes to prevent air from entering the engine, which in turn prevents run-on or dieseling. The solenoid also helps regulate idle speed and can improve fuel economy by reducing unnecessary idling.
