DESCRIPTION
A thrust bearing with the part number 3001709 is a type of bearing that is designed to handle axial loads, which are forces that act parallel to the axis of rotation. It consists of two flat washers and a cage that holds small cylindrical rollers. The washers are typically made of steel and have grooves in them to guide the rollers. When installed, one washer rests against a shaft or housing while the other washer is pressed against it by a spring or another mechanism. This allows the bearing to handle thrust loads while still allowing for rotational movement. Thrust bearings are commonly used in automotive applications such as transmissions and differentials, where they help support rotating shafts under heavy axial loads.
