DESCRIPTION
A main bearing is a component found in the engine of a truck that helps to support the crankshaft. The main bearing is designed to reduce friction and wear between the crankshaft and engine block. It consists of two parts: an upper and lower half, which are located on either side of the crankshaft journal. The main bearing is held in place by bolts or studs, which are tightened to a specific torque setting. Over time, main bearings can become worn or damaged due to high mileage or lack of lubrication. If this occurs, it is important to replace them promptly to prevent further damage to the engine.
