DESCRIPTION
A thrust bearing, such as the 4938950, is a type of bearing that is designed to handle axial loads (force parallel to the shaft) in one or both directions. It consists of two washers (raceways) and a set of rolling elements (balls or rollers) that are held together by a cage. The washers are usually made of steel and have grooves or races on their faces where the rolling elements run. The rolling elements allow for smooth movement between the washers while reducing friction and wear. Thrust bearings are commonly used in automotive applications where there is a need to support heavy axial loads, such as in transmissions, differentials, and steering systems.
