DESCRIPTION
A camshaft is a rotating shaft that is responsible for opening and closing the engine's valves at the proper time during the four-stroke cycle (intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust). The 3066897 camshaft is a specific part number used in some truck engines. It has lobes on it that push on lifters or rocker arms to open and close the valves. The shape of these lobes determines how long the valve stays open and how far it opens, which affects engine performance. A worn or damaged camshaft can cause poor engine performance or even lead to engine failure.
