DESCRIPTION
A camshaft is a component used in internal combustion engines to control the opening and closing of the engine's valves. The camshaft is responsible for controlling the timing of the valves so that they open and close at precisely the right moment. This is achieved through a series of lobes on the camshaft, which push against individual rocker arms or lifters, causing them to move up and down. As the camshaft turns, each lobe presses against its corresponding rocker arm or lifter, causing it to actuate its valve. In a truck engine such as one with part number 3096794, the camshaft plays an essential role in ensuring that fuel is burned efficiently and powerfully by controlling air intake and exhaust gas output.
