DESCRIPTION
The camshaft is a component of an internal combustion engine that is responsible for controlling the opening and closing of the engine's valves. It is driven by the crankshaft and rotates at half the speed of the engine's crankshaft. The camshaft has lobes or protrusions on it that push against valve lifters, which in turn push open the engine's valves. These lobes are specifically designed to open and close each valve at precise times in order to optimize engine performance. The 3026972 camshaft is a specific part number for a camshaft used in certain truck engines, manufactured by Cummins Inc.
