DESCRIPTION
The camshaft is a vital component of an internal combustion engine. It is responsible for opening and closing the valves that allow air and fuel in, and exhaust out of the engine's cylinders. The camshaft is driven by the crankshaft via a timing chain or belt, and its lobes push on lifters, which in turn operate the valves. The shape and size of the camshaft's lobes determine how much air and fuel can enter the cylinders, as well as when it happens relative to piston position. This affects power output, efficiency, and emissions. Part number 3097267 refers to a specific camshaft used in certain makes and models of trucks.
