DESCRIPTION
The camshaft is a key component in the engine of a truck, responsible for controlling the opening and closing of the engine's valves. The camshaft rotates at half the speed of the crankshaft and has protrusions called lobes that push against the valve lifters, causing them to move up and down. This movement opens and closes the valves, allowing fuel to enter and exhaust to exit the combustion chamber. The shape of the cam lobe determines how long each valve stays open, which affects engine performance. The 3897738 camshaft is a specific model designed for use in certain types of trucks with particular engine specifications.
