DESCRIPTION
A camshaft is a rotating shaft within an engine that controls the opening and closing of the engine's valves. The 3970909 camshaft is a specific part number used in certain truck models. The shape and size of the lobes on the camshaft determine when each valve opens and closes, which in turn affects the timing and efficiency of combustion within the engine. The camshaft is driven by a timing belt or chain, which ensures that it rotates at exactly half the speed of the crankshaft.
