DESCRIPTION
The Camshaft (part number 4298626) is a cylindrical component in the engine that controls the opening and closing of the valves. The camshaft is driven by the crankshaft through a timing belt or chain, and as it rotates, it pushes on lifters or followers that move the pushrods and rocker arms to open and close the valves at precise intervals. The shape of the cam lobes determines how long and how far each valve opens, which affects engine performance. A worn or damaged camshaft can cause poor acceleration, low power output, rough idling or even engine failure. Regular maintenance such as oil changes can help extend the life of this critical component.
