DESCRIPTION
The Clamping Plate is a component of the truck's clutch system. It is also known as a pressure plate and is responsible for exerting pressure on the clutch disc to engage or disengage the transmission from the engine. The Clamping Plate is made up of a metal plate with a friction surface, springs, and levers that actuate the release bearing. When the driver presses down on the clutch pedal, it releases tension on the Clamping Plate springs, allowing it to move away from the clutch disc and disengage power from the engine. Conversely, when pressure is applied to the pedal, tension increases on these springs forcing the Clamping Plate towards and against the clutch disc - this allows for smooth engagement of engine power through to transmission.
