DESCRIPTION
A Cylinder Short Block is the core engine component that houses the cylinders, pistons, and crankshaft. It consists of a block, crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons. The block is where the cylinders are cast or machined and where the head gasket sits to seal off combustion chambers. The crankshaft converts reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotational motion to drive other vehicle components such as the transmission or differential. Connecting rods link each piston to a journal on the crankshaft so that it can transfer power to it. The 3991308RX is a specific part number for a cylinder short block used in certain makes and models of trucks.
