DESCRIPTION
A cylinder liner (part number: 148860) is a cylindrical component that fits inside the engine block and provides a smooth, wear-resistant surface for the piston to move against. It is typically made of cast iron or steel and is designed to withstand high temperatures and pressures generated by the combustion process. The cylinder liner also helps to seal the combustion chamber, preventing oil and coolant from leaking into it. Over time, cylinder liners can become worn or damaged, leading to decreased engine performance and increased oil consumption. When this happens, they may need to be replaced as part of an engine rebuild or overhaul.
