DESCRIPTION
A dipstick is a long, thin and cylindrical metal or plastic rod that is used to measure the level of oil in the engine of a truck. The dipstick has markings on it that indicate the minimum and maximum levels of oil required for proper engine function. To check the oil level, the dipstick is inserted into a designated hole in the engine block and then withdrawn. The oil level can then be read by observing how high up on the markings it reaches.
