Ring Dowel Pin
A Ring Dowel Pin, also known as a locating pin or alignment pin, is a cylindrical component used to precisely align two mating components. It has a ring-shaped groove around its circumference that fits into a corresponding groove on the mating component. The pin is inserted into one of the components and then the other component is aligned with the help of the ring dowel pin. Once both components are aligned, they are held in place by bolts or screws. Ring dowel pins are commonly used in automotive applications to ensure proper alignment of engine blocks, cylinder heads, and transmission housings.
