DESCRIPTION
The engine piston is a component within the internal combustion engine that transfers force from the expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft via a connecting rod. The piston is typically made of aluminum alloy and has several features such as rings, pin bore, skirt, and crown. The crown of the piston is designed to withstand high temperatures and pressures generated by combustion. It also has cooling channels to dissipate heat effectively. The skirt helps guide the piston within the cylinder while reducing friction between them. Rings are fitted around the circumference of the piston to provide a seal between it and cylinder walls while transferring heat from it to lubricating oil film in order to prevent overheating.
