DESCRIPTION
The crankshaft is a key component of an engine, responsible for converting the linear motion of the pistons into rotational motion that powers the vehicle. The crankshaft is typically made of high-strength steel or other durable materials, and is designed to withstand the stresses and forces generated by the engine's operation. It consists of a central shaft with several offset journal bearings that support connecting rods attached to pistons in each cylinder. As the pistons move up and down, they rotate the crankshaft via these connecting rods, which in turn drive other components such as camshafts, oil pumps, and flywheels.
