DESCRIPTION
A piston is a component of an internal combustion engine that is responsible for transferring force from the expanding gasses in the cylinder to the crankshaft. The 4991277 piston is a specific part number used in certain truck engines. Pistons are typically made of aluminum alloy and have a cylindrical shape with one end open to allow the connecting rod to attach. They move up and down within the cylinder, compressing fuel and air on the upstroke and pushing exhaust gases out on the downstroke. Pistons must be precisely engineered to fit within their respective cylinders, as they operate under high pressure and temperatures during engine operation.
