DESCRIPTION
An exhaust manifold is a component in a truck's exhaust system that collects exhaust gases from each cylinder and directs them into a single pipe. The manifold is typically made of cast iron or stainless steel, and is designed to withstand high temperatures and pressure. It is mounted to the engine block, usually near the cylinder head, and has ports that match up with each cylinder's exhaust port. The manifold then channels the exhaust gases through a series of tubes or runners that merge into a single outlet pipe. The outlet pipe connects to the rest of the exhaust system downstream, where it eventually exits through the tailpipe. Exhaust manifolds can be prone to cracking or warping over time due to heat stress, which can lead to leaks and reduced engine performance if not addressed promptly.
