The Exhaust Gas Urea Mixer, also known as EGUM and identified by part number 5509798, is a component found in modern diesel trucks equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. This mixer combines exhaust gases with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), also known as urea, to reduce harmful nitrogen oxide emissions. The EGUM is typically located near the SCR catalyst and consists of a housing that contains multiple channels or passages through which the DEF flows. As exhaust gases pass through the housing, they mix with the DEF to convert nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen gas and water vapor before being released into the environment. The EGUM plays an important role in reducing emissions from diesel trucks and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
