DESCRIPTION
The Flywheel Housing, also known as the bell housing, is a component that connects and encloses the flywheel and clutch assembly in a truck engine. It is typically made of cast iron or aluminum and serves to protect the clutch components from outside debris and contaminants while also providing support for the transmission. The flywheel housing is bolted directly to the back of the engine block and contains an opening for the starter motor to engage with the flywheel. Additionally, it provides an interface for mounting the transmission onto the engine. Overall, this component plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient power transfer between a truck's engine and its drivetrain.
