DESCRIPTION
The flywheel housing, also known as the bell housing, is a crucial component of a truck's engine that encloses and connects the engine to the transmission. It is typically made of cast iron or aluminum and can be bolted to either the engine block or transmission. The flywheel housing contains several vital parts such as the clutch assembly, starter motor, and flywheel. Its primary function is to provide a secure mounting for these components while also providing protection from debris and heat generated by the engine. A faulty flywheel housing can cause significant damage to other parts of the vehicle, making it essential for it to be inspected regularly for cracks or leaks.
