DESCRIPTION
The flywheel housing, also known as the bell housing, is a component of a truck's transmission system that encloses and protects the vehicle's flywheel and clutch. The flywheel housing is typically made of cast iron or aluminum and is bolted to the engine block. It connects the transmission to the engine while also providing support for the starter motor, which engages with teeth on its outer rim to turn over the engine during ignition. The flywheel housing must be carefully aligned during installation to ensure proper function of both the clutch and transmission systems.
