DESCRIPTION
The Flywheel Ring Gear, also known as the starter ring gear, is a circular gear that is mounted on the outer edge of the engine flywheel. It serves as a mating surface for the starter motor's pinion gear to engage and turn over the engine during starting. The Flywheel Ring Gear is made of high-strength steel and is designed to withstand repeated engagement with the starter motor's pinion gear. Over time, it can become worn or damaged from excessive use or improper installation, leading to difficulty starting or even complete failure of the starter system. Replacement typically involves removing the transmission or engine to access and replace the Flywheel Ring Gear.
