DESCRIPTION
The Idler Gear, also known as the idle gear or intermediate gear, is a component of the engine's timing system found in trucks. It is responsible for transferring rotational power from the crankshaft to the camshaft(s) and other engine components. The idler gear usually has a smaller diameter than the crankshaft gear and helps to maintain proper tension on the timing belt or chain.
