DESCRIPTION
The Idler Gear (part number 5285650) is a component of a truck's transmission system. It is a small gear that sits between the input and output shafts of the gearbox, and its purpose is to help maintain proper tension on the drive belt or chain. The idler gear rotates freely on bearings and does not transmit power or torque to any other part of the transmission. Its only function is to guide the drive belt or chain around tight corners and ensure that it stays properly aligned with the pulleys or sprockets it connects. Without an idler gear, excessive wear and tear can occur on both the drive components and transmission system as a whole, leading to decreased performance and potentially costly repairs.
