DESCRIPTION
The Idler Gear (part number 5313124) is a component found in the drivetrain of a truck. It is responsible for maintaining tension and proper alignment of the timing chain or belt, which controls the engine's valve timing. As its name suggests, it does not transmit power between input and output shafts, but rather serves as a guide for other gears in the system. It usually consists of a small gear with teeth that mesh with other gears in the drivetrain. The idler gear is an important part of ensuring smooth engine operation and preventing damage to other components.
