DESCRIPTION
The Governor Plunger Drive (GPD), also known by its part number AR40235, is a key component in a truck's fuel system. It controls the amount of fuel that enters the engine and helps maintain a constant speed. The GPD works by regulating the movement of the fuel control rack within the injection pump. As engine speed increases, so does the pressure within the GPD, causing it to move outward and rotate with respect to its shaft. This rotation then moves the plunger back and forth, controlling fuel flow to maintain a consistent engine speed. Without a functioning GPD, an engine may experience inconsistent power output or even stall entirely.
