DESCRIPTION
The Governor Plunger (part number 3039073) is a component in a diesel engine that regulates the engine's RPMs by controlling the amount of fuel delivered to the injectors. The plunger works in conjunction with other parts of the governor system to maintain a constant speed, regardless of changes in load or terrain. As the engine speed increases, centrifugal force causes the governor weights to move outward, which pushes on the plunger and reduces fuel delivery. Conversely, as engine speed decreases, spring tension pulls on the plunger and allows more fuel into the injectors. The precise operation of this part is critical for efficient and safe operation of diesel engines in heavy-duty trucks and other industrial equipment.
