A locknut, also known as a prevailing torque nut or stiff nut, is a type of fastener that has a special design to resist loosening under vibration or torque. The 3009199 locknut is commonly used in heavy-duty trucks and other industrial applications. It features a nylon insert that provides increased friction between the threads of the nut and the bolt it's threaded onto, creating resistance against rotation. This helps prevent the nut from coming loose due to vibrations or changes in temperature.
