DESCRIPTION
A lock nut, also known as a prevailing torque nut or stiff nut, is a type of fastener that resists loosening under vibration and torque. The lock nut features a unique design that includes a nylon insert which creates friction between the threads of the bolt and the nut to prevent it from backing off. The 70275 Lock Nut is one such example of this type of fastener commonly used in automotive applications where maintaining tightness and preventing loosening due to vibration is critical for safety and reliability.
