DESCRIPTION
An oil seal, also known as a shaft seal, is a mechanical component designed to prevent the leakage of fluids, such as oil or grease, from entering or leaving a machine. The 218539 oil seal is specifically designed for trucks and is used to prevent lubricating oil from leaking out of the engine crankshaft. It is made up of a flexible material that conforms to the shape of the shaft it seals and has a metal casing that provides structural support. The oil seal works by creating a barrier between the two surfaces using pressure created by the spring-loaded lip that contacts the shaft. This prevents any fluid from escaping while also keeping dirt and debris out of sensitive machinery components.
