DESCRIPTION
An oil seal, also known as a shaft seal, is a mechanical component used to prevent the leakage of oil or other fluids from within a truck's engine or transmission. The oil seal is typically placed around the shaft of moving components such as crankshafts, camshafts, and axles to prevent fluid from escaping and contaminating other parts. The 3020183 oil seal is a specific part number used in some trucks for this purpose. It is designed to fit snugly around the shaft it is sealing and has a spring-loaded lip that creates a tight barrier against any fluid trying to escape. Proper installation of an oil seal ensures that vital components stay lubricated and free from contaminants for optimal performance and longevity.
