DESCRIPTION
The idle spring plunger is a truck component with part number 140922 that helps regulate the idle speed of the engine. It is a small cylindrical device that is located in the carburetor and works in conjunction with the throttle and choke to maintain a consistent idle. When the throttle is closed, this plunger pushes against the throttle linkage to keep it closed, preventing air from entering into the engine. As a result, this helps maintain a constant engine speed at idle even when there are changes in load or temperature. The idle spring plunger plays an important role in ensuring smooth operation of the engine at low speeds and can help prevent stalling or rough idling.
