DESCRIPTION
The Catalyst Module, also known as a catalytic converter, is an emissions control device found in the exhaust system of gasoline and diesel engines. Its function is to convert harmful pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons into less harmful substances before they are released into the atmosphere. The Catalyst Module consists of a honeycomb-like structure made of precious metals such as platinum, palladium and rhodium which act as catalysts to speed up the chemical reactions that convert the pollutants. It is designed to last for the life of a vehicle but can become clogged or damaged over time, leading to decreased engine performance and increased emissions. In such cases, replacement may be necessary.
