The Catalyst Module, also known as a catalytic converter, is an emissions control device that uses a catalyst to convert toxic byproducts of combustion in an engine's exhaust into less harmful substances. The 5287496NX model is specifically designed for use in trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles. This component plays a critical role in reducing harmful emissions and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. It typically consists of a metal canister containing a ceramic or metallic substrate coated with precious metals such as platinum, palladium, or rhodium. As exhaust gases pass through the substrate, the catalyst initiates chemical reactions that break down pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides into less harmful compounds like carbon dioxide and water vapor.
