DESCRIPTION
The Particulate Filter Module (PFM), also known as a diesel particulate filter, is an emissions control device found on diesel trucks. Its purpose is to capture and store soot particles from the engine's exhaust before releasing them into the atmosphere. The PFM works by trapping the particles in a honeycomb-like structure made of ceramic or metal fibers. Over time, these particles build up and can cause blockages in the PFM, leading to reduced engine performance and increased emissions. To prevent this, the PFM periodically goes through a process called regeneration where it heats up and burns off the trapped particles. This process can happen automatically while driving or may require manual intervention by a technician using specialized equipment. The Part Number for this particular PFM is 5295604.
