DESCRIPTION
A mandrel, also known as part number ST1218, is a tool used in the manufacturing process of exhaust pipes for trucks. It is a metal rod that is inserted into the pipe to prevent it from collapsing during bending. The mandrel provides support and maintains the shape of the pipe while it is being bent. This ensures that the internal diameter of the pipe remains constant throughout its length, allowing for optimal exhaust flow and improved performance. Without a mandrel, pipes can become deformed and restrict exhaust flow, leading to decreased engine power and efficiency.
