DESCRIPTION
A piston ring set is a collection of metal rings that are designed to fit snugly around the piston inside an engine. The rings help to create a seal between the piston and the cylinder wall, which prevents oil from leaking into the combustion chamber and reduces blow-by. A piston ring set typically includes three or more individual rings, each with a specific function. The top ring, also known as the compression ring, helps seal in combustion gases during operation. The second ring, called the intermediate or scraper ring, helps clean excess oil from the cylinder walls. And finally, there may be one or two oil control rings that help regulate oil consumption by scraping excess oil off of the cylinder walls and returning it to the crankcase. Part number 3355031 refers to a specific piston ring set designed for use in certain trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.
