DESCRIPTION
A piston ring set is a collection of rings that are installed on the pistons of an internal combustion engine. The primary function of piston rings is to create a seal between the piston and cylinder wall, preventing combustion gases from escaping into the crankcase below. The 3803977 set includes multiple rings per piston, typically including compression and oil control rings. Compression rings ensure that combustion gases are contained within the combustion chamber during ignition, while oil control rings help regulate lubrication by scraping excess oil from the cylinder wall. A worn or damaged piston ring can lead to poor engine performance and increased oil consumption, so it is important to periodically inspect and replace them as needed.
