DESCRIPTION
The lock plate, also known as a retainer plate, is a small metal component that is used to secure other parts in place. Specifically, it is often used in automotive applications to prevent the steering wheel from coming loose. The lock plate sits between the steering column and the steering wheel and features a series of tabs or teeth that engage with corresponding slots on the steering wheel hub. Once engaged, the lock plate prevents the wheel from moving independently of the column. Lock plates may also be used to secure other components such as brake pads or suspension parts. Overall, this small but vital part plays an important role in ensuring safe and reliable operation of a vehicle's steering system.
