DESCRIPTION
A flexplate, also known as a flywheel, is a component of an automatic transmission system in a truck. It connects the engine's torque converter to the transmission and aids in transferring power from the engine to the wheels. The flexplate is made up of a thin sheet of metal that is attached to the crankshaft and has teeth on its outer rim that mesh with the starter motor's pinion gear. This allows for smooth starting of the engine and helps absorb any vibrations caused by engine movement. The part number 179871 refers to a specific type or model of flexplate used in certain trucks.
