DESCRIPTION
A swirl plate, also known as an intake manifold runner control valve, is a component in a truck's engine that regulates the airflow to the cylinders. The swirl plate is responsible for creating turbulence in the air entering the engine, which improves fuel atomization and combustion efficiency. This results in better performance and lower emissions. The swirl plate is typically located in the intake manifold and can be electronically controlled by the engine control module. If it fails or becomes clogged with debris, it can cause a range of issues including reduced power, poor fuel economy, and increased emissions. Replacement of a faulty swirl plate may be necessary to restore proper engine function.
