DESCRIPTION
An expansion plug, also known as a freeze plug or welch plug, is a small metal disk used to seal off openings in an engine block or cylinder head. The part number 210036 refers to a specific size and shape of expansion plug. Expansion plugs are designed to pop out if the coolant in the engine freezes, preventing damage from occurring to the engine block by allowing the expanding ice to push outwards rather than cracking the metal. They can also be used as a temporary fix for leaking coolant until more extensive repairs can be made.
