DESCRIPTION
The crankshaft is a component in an engine that converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotational motion. It is typically made of steel and has several journals where the connecting rods attach. The crankshaft rotates on bearings and is driven by the timing belt or chain. The plug, also known as a freeze plug, is a small metal disc that seals a hole in the engine block or cylinder head. Its purpose is to prevent coolant from leaking out if there is a crack in the block or head. If the plug fails, coolant can leak into the oil or combustion chamber, causing serious damage to the engine. Together, these components ensure proper functioning and longevity of an engine's performance.
